MASSCOMMUTE CAR-FREE DAY

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

Every year on September 22nd, cities around the world celebrate World Car Free Day. MassCommute, the coalition of Massachusetts TMAs, is challenging commuters to Take the Pledge to commute using an eco-friendly transportation mode on September 22nd. We encourage you to explore sustainable modes such as biking, walking, public transportation, telework, carpooling, or shuttles. By participating in this global movement, you will be making a positive impact on the environment and contributing to a greener Massachusetts. Everyone who takes the Car-Free Day Pledge will be entered to win the following PRIZES: Amazon Gift Cards, Bose Mini Speaker, Yeti Water Bottles (set of 2), Apple Airpods.

2022 CLEAN AIR PLEDGE

Join us for a 60-minute virtual lunch & learn workshop with MassBike to learn the basics you need to know to start exploring Boston on two wheels. Our expert instructors will teach you how to approach multimodal trips, the must-know rules of city cycling, which low-cost/low-commitment essential gear you should invest in, and the most important ABCs of bike maintenance.

MASSCOMMUTE BICYCLE CHALLENGE

Every year during Bay State Bike Month, Allston-Brighton TMA works with MassBike & other local TMAs to put on the MassCommute Bicycle Challenge (MCBC), Massachusetts' longest-running statewide bicycle commuting challenge. Over September 19 - 26 this year, you can log your bike trips on GoMassCommute either on your own or as part of a team to help pedal your workplace, town, or residential building to the top of the statewide leaderboard. Participate as part of the Massachusetts cycling community and celebrate this year's theme with us: Rolling Together Again!

URBAN RIDING VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Are you curious about hopping on your bike for everyday commuting, errands, and exercise, but hesitant about how to get going in a busy urban environment? You’re not alone!

Join us and the experts at MassBike for an urban biking seminar geared toward sharing the knowledge and empowerment to take your commute into your hands in the cityand what to watch for in traffic being safe around other traffic, anticipating unplanned maneuvers, being predictable and visible, and how to ride in roads along with other traffic. Biking is fast, free, and fun (and you’ll get fit), and it's good for your physical and mental health -- especially important these days! The experts at MassBike have honed their tips to get you over the barriers. Join us for an hour-long presentation and discussion, come with your questions and your stories, and learn along with fellow bikers.

Every year, Allston Brighton TMA partners with local bicycle shops to offer free bike safety checks to employees and tenants at our member locations during warm weather months. The Bike Safety Checks are our way of getting to know the cycling community and rewarding cyclists for their dedication to a sustainable commuting choice.
