ECO Awards

What are the ECO Awards?

The Excellence in Commuter Options (ECO) Awards celebrate Massachusetts employers and their efforts to reduce congestion and greenhouse gas emissions by encouraging employees to utilize more sustainable transportation options.

MassCommute, the Massachusetts Council of Transportation Management Associations (TMAs), and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation through MassRIDES, support Massachusetts employers in their efforts to reduce drive-alone trips while encouraging employees to travel to work by transit, carpools, vanpools, by bicycling or walking, and through the support of telework programs. Annually, MassCommute and MassDOT recognize the exemplary contributions employers have made at the Massachusetts ECO Awards.

The ECO Awards are open to any Allston Brighton TMA member company or any Massachusetts employer who is a MassRIDES Employer Partner, and who completes a nomination form identifying the current sustainable commuter option programs their worksite offers to its employees.

Nomination forms are sent out in January and the awards ceremony is held in March.

What awards are presented?

All businesses will be recognized in one of three award categories:

Pacesetter Award

Pinnacle Award

Additional recognition is given through the Spotlight Awards, which are presented to employers whose efforts have resulted in outstanding sustainable commuter option accomplishments.
