Melissa Zampitella

Director of transportation

Melissa Zampitella joined A Better City in February 2016 as The Director of Transportation. In this role Melissa will oversee the activities of the two TMA’s (ABC TMA and Allston Brighton TMA) as well as work on broader transportation initiatives and projects which push forward the interests of ABC’s member organizations and partners.

Melissa comes to A Better City with over 20 years of experience in the TDM industry working for a national transportation firm specializing in commuter transportation solutions. Her career has been focused on helping organizations manage their transportation challenges by seeking efficiencies which provide benefits to both employer and employee. Melissa has been fortunate to have experienced all sides of the business including managing the customer service, sales and marketing and fleet. Over the years she has enjoyed working with clients throughout the Northeast in creating comprehensive mobility programs that focus on worksite accessibility, parking, recruitment and retention and community related issues.  She has also managed contract compliance and deliverables under two state/federal transportation contracts providing subsidies to vanpool participants, and she has worked closely with the TMA’s in Massachusetts and throughout the Northeast on shared goals.

Melissa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Master’s Degree in Management from Lesley University in Cambridge.  While at Lesley, Melissa won an award for Most Outstanding Thesis titled “How to Increase the Use of Vanpooling in Massachusetts.” Melissa is a member of ACT and MassCommute.

Melissa lives in Reading, MA where she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.  She enjoys travelling, she loves doing arts and crafts projects, eating at new restaurants, and watching her kids play soccer and basketball.

Emma Groves

TMA Coordinator

Emma joined A Better City TMA in February 2015. In her role as TMA Coordinator, Emma oversees all aspects of the commuter programs including event planning, participant engagement, outreach and social media. Prior to working at A Better City TMA, Emma worked for the Student Conservation Association and Environmental Defense Fund. She received her Bachelor’s in Geography from the University of New Hampshire in 2012.

Natalia Ramirez

TMA Marketing Assistant

In her role with A Better City, Natalia works with A Better City TMA and Allston Brighton TMA to maintain programming, navigate the needs of TMA members, and create genuein opportunities for community outreach. As a Hudson Valley native, she values emphasizing environmental sustainability, local growth and development. While studying Meida, Culture and Communications at NYU, Natalia became invovled with the promotiona and development of various nonprofit causes. Natalia joined A Better City in March 2016, and her past experience includes working with Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy assisting public programming and private events, as well as working in Social Media Management with businesses in New York City.
